Women
for MACC, Inc. held its Holiday General Meeting for members and their guests on
Nov 30, 2004. Dr. James Casper, Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the
Medical College of Wisconsin, was the guest speaker.
Dr. Casper not only shared with
the group the remarkable strides in recovery rates for most types of childhood
cancers, but raised awareness of other issues and concerns that affect those children
and their families. Among the things that Dr. Casper discussed were the side effects
children suffer from their treatments, such as sterility and the stress that families
experience from dealing with the knowledge and lifestyle changes with a seriously
ill child.
A check in the amount of $125,000
was presented to the MACC Fund representing part of the proceeds WMACC Inc has
raised to date. The Hartford Conservation & Gun Club, Mortensen Photography,
Chenequa Printing, Jack Abuya, Leitzke IV Printing Ltd, Hyatt-Regency Hotel, and
Fiskars Brand were recognized for their generous contributions and services for
Women for MACC, Inc.
The meeting concluded with door
prizes, refreshments and a cookie exchange!
