2003 Annual Meeting Wraps Up
Another Great Year for Women for MACC

WFMACC LogoOn Thursday, November 18th the annual Women for MACC Holiday General Meeting was held at the Eggert Furniture Store in Brookfield. WMACC extends a very special thank you to Eggert’s owner, Rick Engel, and his staff for hosting the festive evening and for their generous financial support to Women for MACC and childhood cancer research.

WMACC President Gayle Denton provided updates on the various events in 2003 and presented special recognition awards to the following individuals and organizations for their continued support and commitment to our cause.

  • Hartford Conservation and Gun Club
  • Leitzke IV Printing LTD
  • Hyatt Regency-Milwaukee
  • Treiber and Straub
  • Mortensen Photography
  • Jack Abuya
  • Nancy Robjohns
  • Mark Haagensen
Following the award ceremony, Executive Director John Cary, on behalf of the MACC FUND, accepted a check for $130,000 representing proceeds from several WMACC events. Since our inception, WMACC has donated 2.5 million dollars to the MACC Fund.

Dr. Robert Truitt, associate director for basic science research at the Cancer Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, gave an inspiring and informative talk about the many research advancements that have been possible through the ongoing support of Women for MACC and the MACC Fund.

The evening concluded with refreshments, conversation, and holiday shopping. If you were unable to attend this meeting, please mark April 29th, 2004 on your calendar. We have something really special planned for our spring meeting. We hope to see you there!
