16th Annual Gene Johann Memorial “Shoot for a Cure”
Takes Place Aug. 26-27, 2006!
The 16th Annual Gene Johann Memorial “Shoot for a Cure” event will take place the weekend of August 26th & 27th at the Hartford Conservation and Gun Club. The event began as a tribute to a club member who lost a two
year battle against colon cancer in 1990, and has developed into a remarkable weekend of sportsmanship, camaraderie and fun (and a very successful fundraiser!). Over $700,000 has been raised to date.
Two Events & Plenty of Fun!
The weekend essentially breaks down into 2 events ~ A corporate patron invitational on Saturday kicks off the weekend’s activities, with the Club hosting five-person teams vying for first place. On Saturday evening, the Scott Lane Band will perform from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.., on the Club grounds. This is open to the public, and there is no admission fee.
Beginning Sunday morning, individual pledged trapshooters will aim high to raise dollars to fund research. Additional events throughout the day include the Firefighters Challenge, the Club Team Challenge, and the Youth Challenge. Honorary chair Milwaukee Wave captain Michael King will be on hand, and will again host the Celebrity /Youth Trap Shoot event in the afternoon. Local radio, TV and sports celebrities will be paired with one of the youth participants. A club team challenge, firefighters challenge and Celebrity Trap Shoot event take place in the afternoon.
The Perfect Family Event!
Throughout the day raffles geared to all ages, silent auction offerings, and a grand raffle will be held. This is a family event, with games and a raffle especially geared to children.

- Join in the fun ~ Volunteer, or show your support by attending. The weekend festivities are open to the public (registration required for the Saturday Corporate Shoot).

- 9.a.m. Over 125 five-person teams are expected to participate in this year’s event
- 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Scott Lane Band
Sunday, Aug. 27th - 50 Target Pledged Trapshoot
- 9 a.m. Pledged Shoot begins
- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Club Team Challenge, Fire Dept. Team Challenge
- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Youth Trapshoot (ages 12-18) will compete in a 25-bird event
- 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Children’s Raffle & Games
- 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Michael King, Milwaukee Wave
- Celebrity Trap Shoot event
