12th
Annual "Shoot for a Cure"
A Resounding Success
The 12th annual "Shoot for
a Cure" trap shoot event held at the Hartford
Conservation and Gun Club on August 24th and 25th was a weekend of celebration
supporting pediatric cancer research. Last year, this dedicated group of men and
women raised a whopping $70,086. Although the final tally is not complete, it
looks like this years total will be in the same neighborhood -- a phenomenal
accomplishment! Organizers continue to introduce new ways to generate more money
as well as expand interest in the event. New this year was a youth team event
held on Sunday with 6 teams participating.
A corporate patron invitational
on Saturday kicked off the weekend activities, with the Club hosting a record
97 five-person teams.
On Sunday morning, individual pledged
trap shooters aimed to raise dollars to fund research. Throughout the day, participants
enjoyed picnic-styled food and refreshments, raffles for all ages, silent auction
and the grand raffle.
Thank you to Women for MACC members
Tamara Kolling, Karen Dunn (and grandson Colin!), and Elaine Spranger who ran
the childrens games and raffle. The kids had a great time allowing their
parents to enjoy some of the other "Shoot" activities.
Hosting Sundays Celebrity
Trap Shoot was Honorary Co-Chair and Milwaukee Wave Captain Michael King. This
year celebrities were paired with youth participants. Some of our celebrity participants
included Patti Genko, 96.5 WKLH, Jessica Jallings, WISN Channel 12, wildlife artist
Terry Doughty, Bill Micheals, WTMJ-RadioSports Central, wildlife artist
Scott Zoellick, Brian Noble former Green Bay Packer, Mark Reardon of WTMJ-Radio
and the Mayor of Hartford, Scott Henke. Everyone had a great time with this event.
